Slovenian Gastronomy and Heritage

A special tour for those who enjoy the traditional and international cuisine and are also curious about the beauties and the heritage of Slovenia.

DAY 1: Novo mesto – Otočec

– Novo mesto: Main Square, The Capital Church, Dolenjska Museum

– lunch in a restaurant in old town center

– Matjaž’s homestead – The story of cviček, wine tasting

– Accommodation in hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: Rudolf’s Raft – Bela krajina

– Rudolf’s raft on the Krka River (local wine and culinary)

– Drive to Bela krajina

– Tasting of sparkling wine with local wine producer

– Metlika with Bela Krajina Museum

– Traditional Bela Krajina lunch

– Winegrowing region of Drašiči – Soseska zidanica – “wine bank”, sightseeing and wine tasting

– Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: European sleeping beauty and valley of the castles

– Šentrupert: land of traditional Slovenian Hayracks

– Lunch – traditional Slovenian cuisine from clay oven

– Wine cellar with wine tasting

– Return via Žužemberk and the valley of the castles to the hotel

– Dinner with folklore programme

– Overnight.

DAY 4: Brežice – Bizeljsko – Slovenske Konjice

– Brežice with Posavje Museum in the medieval castle

– Winegrowing region of Bizeljsko and wine tasting in “repnica”

– Zlati grič – one of the most modern wine cellars in Slovenia.

– Lunch and wine tasting

– Slovenske Konjice – old town centre

– Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight

 

DAY 5:  Škocjan Caves – Slovenian coast

– Škocjan Caves – UNESCO World Heritage List

– Koper – lunch and wine tasting

– Piran – picturesque costal town with great view

– Accommodation in hotel on Slovenian coast. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: Štanjel – Kobjeglava – Sveta gora – Kras

– Štanjel – historical settlement – typical karst village

– Grča: taste of traditional smoked ham

– Nova Gorica and Sveta Gora (Holly mountain with beautiful

pilgrimage shurch and great view)

– Goče – wine tasting and traditional cold cut.

– Accommodation in hotel in Ljubljana. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: Bled – Bohinj (Triglav National Park)

– Bled visit: beautiful Castle overlooking the lake and its small island with church 

– Boat trip on Bled island

– Bohinj lake in the middle of mountains in Triglav National Park

– Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 8: Ptuj – Maribor

– Ptujska gora with the most famous gothic church in Slovenia

– Ptuj – the oldest Slovenian town with Ptuj Castle and museum

– Wine cellar with the multi-vision programme and wine tasting

– Maribor and guided tour of the old city by the Drava River

– Accommodation in hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 9: Ljubljana – the capital of Slovenia

– The sightseeing of picturesque old town centre

– Funicular to the castle

– The castle tour with museum
